Tutorial 2
This design was mostly done in Adobe Photoshop CS2 with a little
help from Illustrator CS2.
Select
the photo with the "Polygonal Lasso" tool. Go
to "Select" and "Inverse" selection
then delete the background.
Borrow
some clipart or create several different floral and animal
shapes using the "Pen" tool in Adobe Illustrator.
Take
the objects into Adobe Photoshop. Make selections of the
objects using the "Magic Wand" tool then use
the "Brush" tool to spray some vibrant colors
into the selections.
Place
each of the objects on different layers and arrange them
into a composition integrated with the photo.
Arrange
the objects to somehow give a depth-of-field effect to
it. Fill most of the bottom part of the layout with the
objects.
Duplicate
the layer of the photo and apply 85% "Threshold Level"
to the layer above. Then apply the "Darken"
effect on the layer so the layer will be transparent against
the original photo layer below it.
Then
apply gradation and glow effect at the background. Add
some floral ornaments at the top-left corner as well as
at the bottom. The last thing is to add the text inside
the bubble – now, the birthday card is complete.
